The leaves are falling and the air is crisp. With a new school year beginning, we all know what that means – school fundraisers! Seed Sucker Organic Apparel has a wonderful alternative to the traditional school fundraiser. Their “Apparel with a Conscience” fundraiser is fun, easy, educational and serves an environmental purpose.

Don’t we all have enough stationary, gift wrap and pens? Wouldn’t Aunt Ethel appreciate a fundraiser where she could buy something “hip” to wear, rather than another tub of cookie dough?

Nicki Jeter is the Director of Public Relations and Social Media for Seed Sucker, Inc.

Nicki is a single, hard working mother of two absolutely adorable kiddos, Charli and Van.

Nicki's passions are Rock-N-Roll music, working out and spending time with her children. She makes everyone around her laugh and brings a breath of fresh air to the office everyday!

Nicki's favorite saying is... "Being boring is a choice... Those pleated khaki's and mild salsas don't buy themselves!"

How to GREEN Your Halloween

Going Green is something we can all attempt to do - all the time! With Halloween and the rest of the holidays coming up - it's time to think about what you can do to help save our resources. This Halloween - use these handy tips to keep make HALLOWWEEN GREEN!

Tip 1: Ditch the car an get out and walk! Do not drive around the neighborhood or from house to house. Park the car and walk with the kids as they trick or treat through the neighborhood.

Tip 2: Light up the night responsibly. If you use flashlights, power them with rechargeable batteries. Also opt for other, greener options like LED flashlights, glow sticks, and solar-powered lights that you can carry or wear.

Tip 3: Use reusable and eco-friendly trick-or-treating bags. The old pillowcase standby is always a good choice, as are small canvas tote bags decorated for Halloween. Or, transform an old plastic bucket or pail into a fun candy collecting container.

Tip 4: Did you know you can wear eco-friendly costumes? This tip is two benefits in one - saving resources - AND saving money! Simply rent, borrow from friends or just dive into your closet and see what clothes could create an awesome costume and not only does it save some resources - it cost much less!

Tip 5: Say no to litter. Keep neighborhoods clean and make sure your kids don't drop candy wrappers as they trick or treat. If you see someone else has dropped wrappers, pick them up and dispose of them properly.

Tip 6: Recycle and repurpose what you can. Most candy wrappers are not recyclable so they usually get tossed in the trash. See what other fun options you can come up with before throwing them away, such as making a candy wrapper collage.

Tip 7: Recycle all that extra candy... Give some candy to the less fortunate, or mail to the local shelter. A great idea is to get the kids involved and decorate a candy box and mail it to our troops overseas.

Tip 8: Make full use of your entire pumpkin by roasting the seeds, turning the innards into soups or pies, and composting the jack-o-lantern carcass when you're done.

Tip 9: Keep it simple. When you're buying treats to give out, choose items that come in a minimum amount of packaging. Some folks skip the candy altogether in favor of use-able treats like pencils, pens, funky erasers and even nickels!

Raising Awareness: Ocean Acidification

What people DON'T know - is that we are slowly destroying life in our ocean from burning fossil fuels. It's odd - because a lot of our planet's environmental, ecological and atmospheric problems are are due to things that people DON'T know.

Seed Sucker, Inc. thinks it's VITAL to spread awareness about issues around our world - and we stumbled across this awesome movie featuring narration by Sigourney Weaver.

Please take a few moments to watch Acid Test, (below) produced by NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) and directed by David Hinerfield. It was created to raise awareness about the widely unknown problem of ocean acidification, which is a direct threat to life in the seas, and also the health of the entire planet and mankind. Ocean acidification is similar to global warming in that it is the result of too much carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere. Acid Test originally premiered on Discovery Planet Green last month.




Seed Sucker, Inc - is about raising environmental awareness, and providing a product using as many green resources as possible. Our organic t-shirts have an environmental message, and are made from 70% Bamboo and 30% Organic Cotton.

While our messages are mostly about trees and seeds (including our name) and we might not seem to address air or water pollution or oceanic environmental issues - we must not forget our beautiful oceans - which cover over three-quarters of our planet and account as the major power to create life, and sustain life.

We address many of these issues on our environmental information website, and have many new designs and messages planned for our shirts.

Rockwall Apasians Art Fair
Seed Sucker will be in ROCKWALL participating in the ART FEST that's been going on there for over 30 years! Most of the revenue from the fair goes toward scholarships for high school seniors, with the remaining proceeds going to help other organizations and individuals who have a need.

Arlington Eco Fest
The Seed Sucker team can be in two places at once!! While part of the team is living the artistic life in Rockwall, the other half will be at Levitt Pavilion/Founder’s Plaza in Downtown Arlington. We'll be doing our part to promote environmental awareness! We'll be among other local businesses showing off our hip-organic apparel and there will be tons of resources for green and environmentally friendly products.

How To Pick A Fundraiser For Your School or Organization

Is your school or organization doing the same'ole fund raiser this year? Why not try something different? No, I didn't say Difficult... I said Different!

Isn't it time to get the kids excited and back into raising money for THEIR own school, sport league or organization?

This year, be a leader in the world of fund raising and start selling items that are worthwhile, meaningful, educational, AND profitable!

When planning a Fund Raiser, ask yourself these questions...

1. What is our financial goal this year?
2. What is our demographic? This is very important when selecting the right event to raise money and be successful.
3. What fund raisers promote products that will excite and encourage student participation?
4. Is there a fundraiser that will increase parents support and involvement?
5. Is this an event that could possible gain local media press by helping the community?

Remember, fund raising should be enjoyable and fun, not dreadful! If there is meaning behind the products that your kids sell, then it's a win-win for everyone involved.
